Autumn is my absolute favourite time of year for family photo sessions. Although it’s sad to see the end of the summer holidays, and the kids going back to school, it does mean that I can start getting excited about planning my autumn photo sessions.

As the leaves turn and start to fall they provide the most stunning, rich colour palette for family photography. The reds and oranges give a warmth to your photos, and the fallen leaves make the woods even more fun as a location for children. Kids just love kicking through the carpet of crisp leaves, throwing them in the air, and best of all – chucking them all over their parents!

Here in Hampshire we are spoilt for locations. Obviously, we have the whole of the New Forest on the door step and lots of local woods, like Farley Mount or Micheldever Woods. Hilliers is also particularly beautiful at this time of year. My own favourite location for autumn photography is Blackwood Forest, which gives a great variety of backdrops in one area. Large open spaces, beautiful paths through the forest and great areas for den building and tree climbing. Children have so much fun here that it’s always a fun and relaxed session. And you can always treat children with a visit to the café there at the end of your session.

I’ve already got some sessions booked in the diary and the autumn colours are at their absolute best for only a short before they turn to winter brown, so I have a limited number of autumn family sessions available. If you would like your own autumn family photos this year then please do get in touch to reserve a date now.
