One of the first questions I’m asked when people call looking for a family photographer is what places I recommend for a family session near Winchester. I always say that if there is somewhere you love to spend time as a family, then that is a perfect start as the photos mean so much more in a place you love. But I do have a number of go-to spots which I know will provide a perfect backdrop with great variety for your session.
So, I am writing a series of blogs introducing you to some of my favourite photography locations near Winchester, and showing you why I love them so much. For the first of these I am starting with Micheldever Wood. and it’s an appropriate time of year for writing it, since one of the things that Micheldever Woods is best known for its fabulous display of bluebells. For three weeks around the end of April and start of May the woods are transformed into a carpet of blue, making the most amazing backdrop for family photos.
But Micheldever has plenty to offer all year round. There’s a great circular path that is just the right length for an hour’s family session. There are lovely wide pathways stretching into the distance, lots of branches to build dens with and tree trunks to use as props for family images.
In the autumn the woods are transformed again with a carpet of copper and golden leaves, giving it a completely different feel for your family session
Micheldever is just 10 minutes from Winchester, and just a really easy, fun place to have a family session.
