As a family photographer in Hampshire, I am spoilt for locations for family photos, but I really love finding a great new spot. When I met Sarah and her family they took me to an area of the New Forest that they enjoy going to as a family.  It was one I hadn’t used before, and I was delighted to find that it had everything you could need from a location to give a great variety of images.

The autumn colours were really coming through when we shot at the end of October, with the first leaves coming off the trees and the colours all just starting to turn.  The weather was great too with the sun coming through the trees

We had a great wooded area to make the most of the lush colours, then some lovely open spaces and paths through them.  I may also have become slightly obsessed with the fabulous roots on this tree – it adds so much character to the surroundings

There was even a lovely river running through (which thankfully we used at the end of the session as I hadn’t brought any wellies with me).

Emily and Alfie had so much fun playing in the river and trying to splash me, swinging on the rope swing, hiding behind trees and getting swung round by their parents.

We had a really lovely relaxed session, and I can’t wait to get back to this perfect little corner of the New Forest.

Maybe you have your own little spot that is somewhere you love spending time together as a family. It could make the perfect spot for capturing some special family memories.
