Blackwood Forest
As a family photographer in Hampshire I am always being asked about my favourite places to shoot in. My previous posts about settings for family photography in Hampshire covered Farley Mount and Micheldever Woods. For number three, this seems like the perfect time to tell you about my next favourite location – Blackwood Forest. This is because coming into Autumn, Blackwood Forest provides a fabulous, varied and colourful backdrop for your family photos. It has a fantastic mix of open spaces, winding paths and wooded areas that are perfect for den building and throwing leaves..
There are a number of trails round Blackwood Forest of varying lengths, but you don’t have to go too far to find some great variety.
Right by the car park there is a large bright open area, perfect for running around and games, then it’s only a short walk to the main woods.
Blackwood Forest is known for its holiday lodges that are buried deep in the woods for relaxed getaways surrounded by nature. This means that there is an added benefit of having a café right beside the car park. So after you have finished your session you can pop in for lunch, tea and cake or an ice cream. The perfect bribe for children whose energy levels might be flagging.
Although I have focused more on Autumn sessions in this post, in the springtime there are areas in the forest which have a lovely display of bluebells too, which can add even more variety to your session.
Autumn sessions are still booking now, but the stunning colours will only be at their best for another couple of weeks.
